Prabe # 10

I read Wanderlust by Danielle Steel for at least 90 min.
Wunderlust begins in Audrey and Annabelle's grandfather house where they have lived since their parents died when they were 12 and 7. They lived in Hawaii but now live in San Francisco. Annabelle is 20 years old and about to married to Harcourt. Audrey is 25 and runs her grandfather's house and has done do since she and her sister moved in. Audrey has always taken care of Annabelle to the point she is spoiled and cannot take care of herself.
Audrey and her grandfather are very close and discuss politics all of the time. This is usually something women didn't do in the 1930's.
Annabelle and Harcourt have a fabulous wedding and go on a 2 month honeymoon to Europe. Audrey is so envious because all she has ever wanted to do is travel but she knows she needs to stay with her grandfather and take care of him and his house.
It is not long before Annabelle discovers she is going to have a baby. She is very happy but does not know how to prepare the nursery so, once again, Audrey does it all.
Audrey is bored with her life and dreams of travelling just as her father and mother did. She is an avid photographer and loves to take pictures.
One night after Annabelle's son is born, Harcourt tries to proposition Audrey. He is drunk and tells her that she has spoiled Annabelle and doesn't know how to do anything except run the house and order drapes. She is devastated.
Later that evening after thinking about what Harcourt has said, Audrey tells her grandfather that she must leave. She wants to go to Europe and see and do the things she only dreams about. Her grandfather is not happy but he knows he must let her go.
Audrey takes a train to Chicago and then New York; she stays for a week. Now she has set sail to Europe and she is loving every minute of it. She meets up with a couple from London, James and Violet and they become close friends and spend all of their spare time together. They make port and Audrey agrees to meet them in Antibe to spend some of her time with them. They go to parties and spend a lot of time together. Audrey doesn't want to go home in a few weeks but she knows she must. Audrey doesn't mind being alone and as a spinster at 26, she doesn't even feel the need to get married.
She isn't looking for any one and then she meets Charlie and they fall in love.
